“From what I have seen so far, there is so much that is being done by this organization and understandably so much has also been achieved from what I have seen, but you are all aware of the difficult situation that our country is facing, so it becomes imperative that we need to prioritize, we need to focus on those high value adding activities and those that have long term and permanent bearing on the discharge of the mandate of the organization. I’m glad that this process already commenced here even before I was appointed, we have seen the very comprehensive, very good report that was put together by a panel that was set up by the Acting Executive Secretary and I have gone through some of the recommendations. So God willing in the next few days I will advert my mind to the implementation of some of the key recommendations of this committee”.

The former Acting Executive Secretary, Ahmed Galadima Aminu outlined some of the measures he took during his period in office. These include evolving strategic partnership with some institutions at home and abroad, including discussions with relevant stakeholders to reduce the burden of running our Scholarships schemes and other skills development programmes.

“In view of the paucity of funds and the economic pressure pervading all segments of government businesses, including our agency, we saw an urgent call to evolve better partnership strategies, both at home and abroad.”

He urged the Management and staff of the Fund to offer their absolute loyalty to the new Executive Secretary in the discharge of his mandate and wished him a productive and rewarding tenure.  “The Executive Secretary Sir, I assure you that you are coming to work with dependable professionals and experienced Management team. The staff of PTDF are well groomed, exposed and amenable to creativity and innovation and with your wealth of experience, knowledge, exposure and discipline, I am deeply convinced that we are lucky to have you as the chief Executive of this great organization. Your experience in both the industry and the academia is vast and will provide the Fund with much needed synergy between the industry and the academia.”

Highlight of the occasion was the handover of the official documents on the current status of the Fund to the new Executive Secretary, Dr Bello Aliyu Gusau. He was later conducted round the facilities in the PTDF office complex.
